Linens are made from the long fibers of the flax plant, whose natural habitat is the flax belt that spans across Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. The highest quality linen in the world is grown in this region, and because flax is naturally suited to the climate there, it is incredibly eco-friendly to produce.

Flax is pulled up by the roots, soaked in water to soften and loosen the green content, then dried out, beaten and combed to separate the fine inner fibers. The long, pliable fibers are then spun into yarn. So when you buy natural, undyed linen, the color has not been modified in any way because the process uses nothing but water. Now that is natural!

Gets softer with each wash

At Looma, our linen bedding is professionally washed through processes like garment and stone washing. Washing the linen helps to soften the fabric and break down naturally occurring components found in raw linen fiber called "pectin". With every consecutive wash, linen gets softer and softer—and the best part is that these washes don't adversely affect the strength and longevity of the fabric.

Linen is thermoregulating

Flax is a hollow fiber, which allows it to breathe. This gives it the ability to thermoregulate, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Naturally moisture-wicking

Linen can absorb up to 30% of its weight in water without getting wet. Which means, you can sleep as long as you want and you will stay dry and comfortable all night.
